Feeling Human Again ...

Well, what a horrid three weeks I've had! I actually managed to get out and about today - only to Sainsbury's to do a bit of shopping but it's the first time I've been out of the house since the end of January. I now feel as if I belong to the human race and not on some leper colony! I never knew that you could have such a bad reaction to penicillin! The OH's mum sent me a newspaper article about the hidden dangers of everyday drugs which we assume are harmless. It mainly deals with antibiotics - did you know that one side effect can be tendinitis and tendon rupture! As one consultant stated in the article "There's been a perception that antibiotics are a bit like vitamins in that it won't do the patient any harm to take them, even if it's not absolutely certain they do have an infection." It bothers me why the dentist actually prescribed the amoxicillin. I went to see him as I'd chipped my wisdom tooth on a nut and only mentioned that another wisdom tooth was causing me some pain - after 20 odd years it's still trying to push through! There was no abscess! As the chipped tooth is not causing me any problem and the other tooth is now fine I'm going to give the dentists a wide berth for a few months!

The daffs were from the OH and Miss. K. They have been very good looking after the invalid!

The rose is from a beautiful bunch of flowers from friends - the bouquet is gorgeous!

A card from Miss. K.

So as a treat for being nice to the patient - a heart necklace and ring from Sainsbury's!

If you want the best seat in the house - find the cat! Ruby lying amongst the cushions on the sofa!

It's the end of half term and back to school tomorrow. The children are off on a trip - so it's a day for packed lunches! "Can I have cake?" Miss. K. said. "Only if you help me make it!" She did!

And sneaked a taste when she thought I wasn't looking!

Thanks ever so much for your comments on my last few posts! I'm now well on the mend and normal blogging will resume!

Be back soon!

June.

  2. You have had a time of it! Glad to hear you are feeling better and can once again get out and about. I think sometimes doctors and dentists are too quick to prescribe antibiotics as to them I suppose its a daily occurence.
I found I was allergic to one antibiotic when i was 18 and had a similar experience, although not quite as bad as yours - but enough to keep me off work for a week and to make sure that all and sundry know I am allergic to it!
Lovely to see your "at home" photos - beautiful daffs, and that rose photo is lovley.
Nice to see your daughter helping out, just like mine when it comes to baking! Love your pretty flour tin - is it vintage or a new retro one?

    Enjoy your new found freedom!

  3. Thank you for your comment yesterday and for becoming a follower :)

Glad to here you are getting better after a bad month. I agree with you about antibiotics, I've been on them for 18 months for a skin condition and I'm not happy but they have made such a difference to my appearance and confidence that I'm now torn about how long I can or should take them for! At least I haven't had any bad reactions to them!

I've had a quick nosy around here and I like the look of your blog so I look forward to reading more :)
