A Day at The Circus

Gosh it seems like an interminable time since I last did a posting and it is hard to believe that it was only the middle of August when we drove to Marlborough Common for an evening at The Circus.
I had read a great review by Charles Spencer in the Telegraph about Giffords Circus. He was so enthusiastic about the show that I immediately looked up Giffords Circus on the net and the rest as they say is history!
We drove down to Wiltshire and arrived about ten minutes before the show was to begin.
We entered the tent and sat down to enjoy "War and Peace" by Tolstoy adapted by Irina Brown for this show stopping circus production!

The cast entered the show ring and we had a taste of what was to come!

The acrobats arrive!

And perform spectacularly!

Giffords Circus is a family affair - Nell Gifford, seen here on horseback during the show, has a degree in English Literature.

An acrobat plays the violin whilst suspended upside down!

A gymnast plays with fire.

Tweedy, the Clown was very, very entertaining!

Napoleon arrives on his steed!

I bet you didn't know that he was a knife thrower in his spare time!

The clown kicks his cap into the air and it lands on his head!

The army even has some jugglers in it!

They can also juggle with fire!

And it was only a matter of time before the clown caught fire!

And finally Napoleon is defeated!

And it is time to see the doves of Peace!

The War is over - let the celebrations begin!

Younger members of the audience were invited into the show ring for a celebratory dance - Our Daughter was one of the first into the ring and danced to her hearts content - bless her!

And all too soon the show was over and it was time to head back home.
This was a thoroughly entertaining evening and I will certainly be looking out for next years Giffords Circus production.

Until next time,

June.
