Anyone For Tennis ...

Hello there! A massive "Thank You" to all those comments on my previous post! The day after we had made up and painted the herb planter I went shopping in town with KP. I walked past one of the vintage shops - a dangerous thing to do when you have some money in your purse! Outside the smallest of the two shops was this old watering can. I had been on the lookout for one for quite a while and seen some on eBay but the prices they were going for I wasn't prepared to pay. This one was just so what I had been looking for and didn't put too much of a dent in the old wallet! It now sits comfortably next to the planter and I'm really pleased that I saw it before it was nabbed by anyone else!

Meanwhile, we have been having a bit of a heatwave which has meant that old Charlie, likes to stay indoors - out of the sun. He's off to the dog groomers later in the week - so he'll come back with a hound-dog expression "Look what they did to me!"

He can make himself look so pathetic and adorable at the same time - especially when he sees someone with any kind of food!

When KP and I were out shopping I was dragged to the toy shop. Why? Because they sell these rubber band bracelets!

The OH had seen them a few weeks back and purchased one that said "Drama Queen" on it after her performance at the school play.

KP had seen and admired others in the same range!

So she now has four - paid for out of her own pocket money! At £1.50 each I think they are probably good value and right on trend!

Here they all are - her complete set!

The weather has been so glorious that we have been playing a lot of tennis in the private road around the corner from the house. On Friday of last week one of KP's friends came round and it was so relaxing for me to be able to sit and watch rather than be dragged off to play!

A photo from the back garden just before the girls were about to place the tennis rackets and balls in the shed before starting a game of Swingball. The yellow balls that they use for tennis are chewable toys in George's eyes so we have to be quite secretive about where they are kept and must ensure that shed doors are locked!

The girls were then picked up to go to a party where they watched films and ate pizza. It's a hard life being 11 years old!

After the party we drove down to Devon - more postings later in the week about what we got up to but that's all for now!

Until next time,

June.

  1. What a great find and it will look beautiful next to your lovely blue planter. I'm glad you've been having good weather, it hasn't been too bad here either, there are a lot of dark clouds around but at least it's been dry.

  5. Look at Charlie's big brown eyes!
Love the bracelets, good pocket money buys and your watering can (though it wasn't quite pocket money price) was a great find too.

  6. I love the watering can, I have a similar one and it's one of my favourite things in the garden. Plastic cans just don't do it for me. Poor Charlie, Archie's just the same in warm weather, he spreads himself as flat as he can on the kitchen floor, which is tiled, to get cool. I'm sure Charlie will feel better once he's been clipped. Love the bracelets, not many things are pocket money priced these days. I'm glad we've had some better weather for the school holidays. It's great that the kids are able to get outside in the fresh air and get some exercise, it seems they've been cooped up nearly all year. The party sounds good. It's Eleanor's friends birthday today so she's gone out to the cinema with her then they're going back to her house for a sleepover.
