A Sunday Afternoon Walk ...

Hello to all fellow Bloggers out there!  The weatherman had predicted that it would rain on Sunday - how wrong he was! The sun finally shone!

After lunch we decided to take the dogs for a walk. We didn't want to go anywhere which would involve putting the dogs in the car, we just wanted to head out of our front door and head straight for some fields where the dogs could run freely.

First of all though we had to walk through a housing estate and came across this ginger tom, sat on the mat outside his front door, sunning himself!

Within two minutes we were out in the fields which were full of buttercups and ox eye daisies!

The sky was a wonderful shade of blue!

It is fantastic to be able to walk out of your front door and within ten minutes to be out in the country. I don't think I could do the urban living thing - perhaps I could when in my 20's but now in my 40's there's no way I could ever envisage living in a densely populated area. I do love to visit London but am always glad to be back home!

We walked past one of the old water towers!

And then we walked past the second old water tower!
The OH saw a deer but KP and I missed it!

We espied some butterflies! In fact there were literally hundreds. I've never seen so many in one place but would they stay still - would they heck! They must have heard that the mad woman with the camera was on the prowl!

This one remained still long enough to have more than one photo! Perhaps he felt sorry for me! I think it's a Meadow Brown!

We came across this - is it a butterfly or a moth? I looked up some photos on the net and I think it's a butterfly called a 'small skipper.'

It's orangey colour was very vibrant against the grass!

George by this stage had been running through the tall grass and was fagged out!

So it was easy to take a photo or two!

Charlie and his extra long tongue was also shattered! His tongue is probably longer than his legs!
"My eyes - they've disappeared!"

KP amongst the ox eye daisies!

The town is not far away now!

We stop to take a last look!

We sit down to breathe in all that fresh air!

We arrive home and see the cat sitting in the untidiest bit of the garden! This is Oscar - he's been rather poorly recently and had to have various trips to the vets - he'd lost some weight which is always concerning but he now seems to be on the road to recovery as they say, cats do have nine lives!

Until next time,

June.

  1. What a lovely walk. I'm completely with you regarding access to the countryside. We currently live in a town, and even although it is only 2 minutes walk to the river and 5 minutes to get out of town I would really prefer we lived properly out of town. This is the first time I've ever lived in a street (except for student years!) and while it is convenient it isn't really me.
    Hope Oscar keeps improving. Juliex

  4. Isn't it wonderful to have the countryside on your doorstep, it is just the same for us too. My sister lives in central London and despite the parks I wouldn't want to live there.
I agree your butterfly photos are amazing.
